Exams

The IFE’s qualifications are regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) in the UK and are recognised by the fire sector internationally. Each year the IFE receives around 6,000 examination entries from candidates in more than 20 different countries. 

Assessments are available in specialist fire subject areas such as fire engineering science, fire safety, fire service operations and incident command, fire investigation and passive fire protection.

The Institution’s examinations are currently held twice a year throughout the world and provide the opportunity for candidates to gain nationally accredited qualifications and to satisfy the academic requirement for membership at different grades.

The examinations are designed to assess underpinning knowledge and understanding at different levels and the resulting qualifications are recognised internationally as evidence of academic achievement in fire engineering.
